Avondale Heights won the inaugural Essendon Ford Challenge Cup. The Challenge Cup is contested once a year between Avondale Heights Football Club and Airport West Football Club as Essendon Ford sponsor both clubs. A big thank you to Josh, James and Olga from Essendon Ford for a fantastic day. The Heights got off to sluggish start and were trailing Airport West by 16 points at the first break. The second quarter saw Airport West go out to a 28 point lead going into time-on. A quick four goals late in the quarter saw the Heights trailing by only three points at the long break. The third quarter saw the Heights get out to a three goal break half way through the quarter only to see Airport West gallantly come back to make the margin at three quarter time only 2 points to Height's advantage. In the last quarter Avondale Heights put the pressure on and took control of the game kicking 7 goals 3 points to Airport West 2 points to go out comfortable winners by 45 points. Final score 18:15:123 to 11:12:78

Avondale Heights find themselves going into the bye weekend in third place on the ladder
Round 9 is against Greenvale at Greenvale Reserve.
Avondale Heights Reserves team went down to Airport West by 26 points. Despite the loss, the Heights reserve team are paced 4th on the ladder.
The Under 18's team won their fourth game in a row. The boys are playing well and are 6th on the ladder.
