CLUB MISSION STATEMENT

To teach, motivate, encourage and advise young players discipline, fitness and sportsmanship in the environment of a football team.

 

Develop children’s skills and coordination in a friendly atmosphere, and to promote self confidence.

 

Provide an environment for players to socialize and communicate, giving the players a sense of self-esteem, independence and the ability to confront challenges.

 

Strive to be a friendly, family orientated club.

 

Create an environment that treats its players, officials and umpires with dignity and respect.

 

Develop and manage the Avondale Heights Football Club to ensure it is a well respected and successful club in the Essendon District Football League.

Spreading the word

The following video is from the AFL website. Watch volunteers from Avondale Heights and Taylors Lakes Football Clubs build a “Respect” banner for the Essendon District Football Leagues senior’s game played on 16th April 2011. The volunteers received generous assistance from the Western Bulldogs cheer squad. The two community football teams ran through the banner together at the start of the match.

JUNIOR APPOINTMENTS—2012

The AVONDALE HEIGHTS FOOTBALL CLUB would like to announce the following appointments.

 

GLEN GRAHAM —JUNIOR VICE PRESIDENT.

Glen has been reappointed Junior Vice President for season 2012. Glen has been a member of our football club for over 30 years and during this time, he has been a junior and senior player, senior vice president, committee member and junior coach. The Avondale Heights Football Club believe that Glen will continue his excellent work as Junior Vice President and will represent the junior teams of our football club well.

 

ROCKY PROCHILO—JUNIOR FOOTBALL COORDINATOR 

Rocky has been reappointed  junior football coordinator for season 2012. Rocky will oversee football development and operations in the coming season. The club are looking forward to having Rocky continue his great work in player development and in particular coordinating the development of players to become skilled footballers and senior players.

 

Over the next few months, Rocky and a newly formed junior sub-committee will be working behind the scenes to ensure that season 2012 will be another terrific season for our football club.

 

PETER KALAGIROU—UNDER 16’S COACH

Peter has been reappointed under 16’s coach for season 2012. Peter was the under 16’s coach for season 2011 and brought a fresh approach to football coaching and development. In his first year of coaching, Peter was able to develop our under 16’s players in not only the fundamentals of football but also in what bit takes to play at all levels of football. In season 2012, our football club will invest in a player program structured by senior coach Chris Johnson. This will include high level skills based training, AFL accredited education programs, game education and training camp. Chris Johnson is also the current senior coach of the AFL Under 16’s squad. Some players will also be provided with ‘one on one’ coaching with Chris Johnson. Peter will again be assisted by Stuart as assistant coach.

 

JAIME KNAPE —UNDER 14’S COACH

Jaime Knape has been appointed under 14’s coach for season 2012. Jaime is a 20 year old who has been involved in football since the age of 8. He has experience in coaching and working with this age group after spending a year on an AFL Sports Ready Program at a secondary school in 2009 has been highly recommended by the school after coaching and managing their football teams for that year. Jaime has also been a junior field umpire and has a strong passion for football and coaching to develop young footballers.

 

LOU SCARAMOZZINO  — UNDER 12’S COACH (White Team)

Lou Scaramozzino has been appointed under 12’s coach for season 2012. Lou assisted with under 10’s training in 2011. He also became an accredited Level 1 coach this year. Lou has an emphasis on teaching all players to value being part of the team to reach their potential from a sporting perspective as well as reinforcing the values of hard work, respect and discipline.

 

ANTHONY BASILONE  — UNDER 12’S COACH (Blue Team) Div. 6

Anthony “Buzz” Basilone has been appointed under 12’s coach for season 2012. Buzz was the under 10’s coach in season 2011 and had a successful year in progressing our Under 10’s players and introducing a lot of them to competitive football. Buzz will continue with his enthusiasm and drive and we wish him all the best for season 2012..

 

 

ROBERT PINGITORE  — UNDER 10’S COACH (White Team)

Robert Pingatore has been appointed under 10’s coach for season 2012. Rob was an eager helper in season 2011 and will be a terrific addition to our junior coaching team. We are sure that Rob will continue the great work by Buz and David this year with this group.

 

 

T.B.A.   —          UNDER 10’S COACH (Blue Team) Div.6

The Avondale Heights Football Club will announce our new under 10’s Div. 6 coach for season 2012 at a later date. The Avondale Heights Football Club is determined to appoint quality coaches for our junior teams and will ensure that the best coach is put into place to teach and develop our players.

 

JUNIOR COMMITTEE—Some positions have already been filled on the junior committee. However there are still some positions available. If you are interested in becoming involved and having a say in the direction of our junior teams, please contact Glen Graham or Rocky Prochilo and get involved. It is very rewarding and also enjoyable.

AVONDALE HEIGHTS FOOTBALL CLUB—JUNIORS

With the increased interest from players and families to be involved with our football club, the Avondale Heights Football Club held an Early Bird Registration Day on 16th October for season 2012. Even though there was a tremendous response and the Heights will have multiple teams at a number of age groups for season 2012, there are still vacancies available. So if you want to be part of the Mighty Heights for next year, it’s not too late.

 

NEW PLAYERS AND FAMILIES ARE VERY WELCOME
