MATTHEW LLOYD COMES HOME TO THE HEIGHTS FOR THE AFL COMMUNITY FOOTBALL WEEKEND Matthew Lloyd returned to Canning Reserve, the home of his original football club Avondale Heights as part of the AFL Community Football Weekend. It was a great day for all. Part of the activities included a kicking competition between our under 18 players. The competition was won by James Toscan who won an Avondale Heights Training Top signed by Matthew Lloyd and Scott Lucas.

The scholarships are known as the Matthew Lloyd scholarships in recognition of the contribution that Matthew has made to our club. Matthew played all of his junior football at Avondale Heights and is pleased that our football club has taken a major step in football development at this age group. |

The day was also an opportunity for Matthew Lloyd to meet the under 18 team for which he has a keen interest. As part of our football club’s player development initiative for season 2008, it was decided that an increased emphasis was required in the development of our junior players into senior club players. As a result, the Avondale Heights Football Club introduced player scholarships for a select group our under 18 players. We see this as an important and exciting development for our football club. |
